Literature Text

I am an Iron Man, invincible, indestructible
I’m heartless, cold, manipulative and blank
I surround myself with the protection of my metal
Cast iron suit, it binds me together and keeps me sane
And complete, nothing can get past my handcrafted
Steel frame and I’m ready to battle armies, kill enemies
But underneath it, I am nothing but a weakling, a runt
I look around at the world of destruction I have caused
And I wonder who gave me the right to kill mercilessly
Suddenly, I forget why I even needed protection anyway
Because the demons I need to face aren’t outside
They dwell in my beautiful steel contraption
I am an Iron Man, invincible, indestructible
Unless my competitor is my own worst enemy
I trapped myself in this suit for one reason only
It was never to keep me safe from terror faced outside
But it was me, making my own prison, I am evil myself
My prison only made me stronger; it defied its own purpose
But underneath it all, I am nothing but a weakling a runt
I am a coward that is unable to release myself onto the world
Unless I am encased and hidden and all my ugliness locked
I hate myself, but I love the Iron Man, I love him dearly
And I’ve forgotten the fine line between us that separates us
As two completely separate beings, different entities
I am an Iron Man, Invincible, Indestructible
Oh look, more poetry
